Let’s split
A split fountain can create a multi-color look using one-color equipment. The trough of ink, or fountain, that feeds the press is split into two or more compartments that hold different colors of ink that are then printed on the same plate. With the rise of multi-unit, multi-color presses, split fountains are rapidly becoming obsolete.
