Petal Pushing.

Wisps of color over a transparent light create a delicate, mysterious image, made almost entirely of highlights and shadows. Pushing color into the shadows helps to increase the contrast, making the lightly tinted petals seem all the more ethereal.

The grayscale x-ray images were inverted to positives. Then, duotones were created using a PANTONE process color and black. Midtones of the color were boosted in the curve and the midtones of black were reduced. Each frame was converted to a multichannel image. Next, the alpha channel was filled with white and the image was converted, first to grayscale and then to CMYK, which were then composited on layers, with all layers set to Multiply.
