Warm Looks.

Mexico City in the 1950s? Long days of hard work? A sepia tone, spread across the image, makes it appear warmer and increases its emotional appeal.

It is difficult to maintain both high contrast and a high level of color, but as this image shows, it is not impossible. After the black and white image was scanned into all four channels of a CMYK file, four curve adjustment layers were used to achieve the almost metallic look. Unlike the neutral gray of the cover image, the black was run behind the other colors. Highlight=C2 M11 Y13 K0; Midtone=C22 M45 Y65 K20; Shadow=C72 M84 Y96 K85. Black begins to appear at C7 M21 Y37 K1.
