Whether papers are measured using U.S. (ANSI) or metric (ISO) standards, the goal is to produce the greatest number of sheets of a certain size with a minimum of waste. No matter which of the two common standards is used, the finished dimensions of comparable ANSI and ISO sizes are often similar.
